When Stacy Fritz heard the news, she was devastated. Her only sibling, her brother Brad, had been diagnosed with colon cancer.
He was just 49 years old when doctors detected the cancer. In the following years, Brad, a father of three young children and a commercial airline pilot, worked relentlessly to heal without relying on painkillers. Through it all, Stacy was by his side as he dealt with the life-changing diagnosis.
One night while at her brother’s house helping care for his three children, Stacy woke up after having a vivid dream: She was trying to help and teach her brother to manage the fear, pain, and anxiety he was feeling using the power of breath.
But it wasn’t working; her brother couldn’t grasp the skills Stacy was trying so desperately to teach him.
That dream was the very first spark of an idea for her product: a breath-training device designed to help people manage the chaos of life.
A product Stacy would later completely sell out in just six weeks. A product she’d pitch to hundreds of business owners in a nation-wide pitch competition. A product she’d bring to her speaking workshops, ones she’s now charging 10x the amount she did when she first had that dream.
However, that was still years from becoming a reality.
The Struggle to Secure Higher Fees and Deeper Connection
Since starting her corporate wellness company, Fit2order, in 2008, Stacy had spoken about and taught wellness practices and breathing techniques to thousands of employees, company leaders, and entrepreneurs. But she knew she needed some refinement.
She was earning just a few hundred bucks for her workshops, and wasn’t getting the fees she hoped for. For years she had been charging the same price, and increasing it just seemed unattainable.
On top of that, Stacy could feel that she just wasn’t connecting with her audience like she yearned to. She felt stuck.
“I think I needed to work on the through line,” Stacy said in our recent interview. “I had a ton to talk about in corporate wellness; a larger, more visionary message. But I was stuck in this Expertville. People were only hiring me to teach them the tips and tools. They wanted my knowledge. But I wanted to speak in a way that resonated.”
Stacy didn’t want her audience to miss out on the important message she was delivering. She wanted to comfort those facing and fighting life-altering diseases like cancer. She wanted to help people burdened by the stress, anxiety, and unpredictability of life.
To do that, she needed to craft a message that was laser-focused. One that was completely in service of her audience. One that resonated powerfully and made a difference in the world. One that earned her the fees she knew she deserved.
“I wanted to uplevel my speaking skill.”
Flash forward to 2020. Stacy’s brother Brad had recently passed away after his battle with cancer. Days were full of grief. It seemed like the worst moment to travel hundreds of miles and attend a speaker training program in Lambertville, New Jersey.
“Something inside of me said, ‘Go, do it,’ even though it was a challenging season of life. Looking back, I had no business being there. I really didn't. But I’m so happy that I listened to that little voice,” Stacy said.
“So I decided to go to HEROIC,” she continued. “Why? Because I wanted to uplevel my speaking skill. And I was running away from a ton of grief. I was looking for an escape, and I found so much more. In reflection, it was probably the kindest, nicest thing I could do for myself. What started as just a way to get better at something became a passion.”
At CORE | The Breakthrough Experience, Stacy was welcomed into a group of thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and speakers who all had a message to share. The HEROIC Faculty made her feel welcome, from the very beginning. Stacy said, “They carried my grief, and they didn’t even know it.”
